What is the hardest part about running a small brewery, or any small business for that matter? It’s having to do everything. As a small business we have just a handful of employees and we can’t be spending loads of money on website design or upkeep when we just need to do it ourselves. Same for a lot of different things. Need to pick up something on the other side of town, then you hop in your car and go get it. No time for couriers or messing around. When asked what I do at Post Card Brewing Company, often I will say that I am the General Manager and the Janitor and everything in between – not to disparage janitors. It is a master-of-none mindset that helps the beer get made.
I do not claim to be an accountant, but I am often asked to look over accounts, make budgets or do up a Balance Sheet or a Profit Loss Report – God Help Us All. We all just need to do the things that may be out of our comfort zone, but needs to get done. So we do it.
Why is this the topic of my Blog this week? Well we are in the midst of tidying up our website (did you notice?) It was a mess with links going to the wrong place or not working at all; content that desparately needed updating, or selling actual stuff in our webshop that we are actually selling (sorry no beer yet!). We are getting it all nice and shiny for our upcoming advertisement and company profile that is coming out on Wednesday, plus our promoted posts and ads on Instagram and Facebook. Exciting stuff! We’ll talk about it all in next weeks Blog. See you then.
